OUR STRUCTURE

Local

Local Chapters are the heart of NYHSD. NYHSD has two types of chapters, School Chapters and Community Chapters. The members of these chapters are those that are really able to make an impact. Whether meeting with elected officials, going to rallies, planning events, or campaigning, these chapters are able to affect real change in their communities.

State

Our state serves as a liaison between individuals in New York and the HSDA national board. NYHSD leads expansion initiatives to new schools and expands communication within the state. NYHSD also helps organize statewide conferences, connects members to state candidates, and plans major phone banks and get-out-the-vote campaigns. NYHSD coordinates with the Democratic Party and Young Democrats.

National

National High School Democrats of America (HSDA) works to create national initiatives. HSDA organizes with three basic principles: informing, participating, and organizing the future leaders of the Democratic Party. Every year, the National Board finishes with a Nationwide summit in Washington, D.C., including famous politicians like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
